The Global Intellectual Property Index 2009

This second Taylor Wessing Global Intellectual Property Index (GIPI 2) follows on from the inaugural GIPI Report (GIPI 1) published in May 2008. That aimed to provide the first comprehensive assessment of how the intellectual property (IP) regimes of important jurisdictions compared with each other. Each was assessed in relation to obtaining, exploiting, enforcing and attacking the main types of IP rights.

The electronic questionnaire has been re-designed to make it even easier and quicker to complete. It should only take a few minutes to complete, depending on how broad your experience is. We would like to invite you to contribute your views and would be extremely grateful if you could take the time to respond to this questionnaire. In return for your help, we will send you a copy of our findings.

As requested by many respondents last time, we have expanded the research to cover three additional jurisdictions (the EU as a whole, Ireland and Turkey) and two additional IP 'rights' (registered designs and domain names). Given these more difficult economic times, we are also exploring the cost-effectiveness of enforcing IP rights in the various jurisdictions. Please note that this research complies with the Market Research Society's Code of Conduct. All answers provided will remain anonymous and no personal data will be shared with third parties. This questionnaire is aimed at those who deal with intellectual property issues on an international basis and if you have colleagues who specialise in intellectual property, please feel free to pass this on to them. We look forward to receiving your response and many thanks in advance for your input.

Best wishes,

Taylor Wessing
